The Park (となり町の公園, Tonari machi no kōen) is the 46th chapter of the Parasyte manga series, written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki.

Overview[]

While inside Shinichi's house, Reiko answers the phone, and asks Shinichi to meet her at Hikari Park. Outside Reiko has a short conversation with Murano, letting her know Shinichi will return soon. Detective Hirama and the rest of the police force continue to try and locate Reiko and Kuramori. At the park Reiko confronts Kuramori and comments his ability to calm the child.

Summary[]

Tamura leafs through a scrapbook full of baby pictures.

Still unable to return home, Shinichi calls the hotel where his father is staying, only to be told that he went out. Worried, Shinichi then calls his house and Tamura answers. Shinichi then demands to know if she's planning to kill him, but she tells him that the situation has changed and they may have to leave. She then asks him to go to Hikari Park in East Fukuyama in the afternoon, tells him she has something for him, and hangs up. After looking at Shinichi's baby pictures, she takes in the image of his mother and ponders on her original host's own mother.

Ass she leaves she meets Satomi Murano outside of the Izumi household, who asks if she knows what's going on with Shinichi. Instead of answering, Tamura says she's jealous of Satomi's worry and tells her that he'll be back soon, and leaves without a trace.

Detective Hirama demands to know if anyone's found signs of Tamura, but his men answer that most of Kuramori's info was lost in the office fire and there's no official records of her address.

In school, Satomi wonders about Shinichi's return and the strange woman who looked similar to her original substitute teacher. As she heads home she spots Shinichi on the train, but after losing sight of him exits too early and has to wait for the next train. She realizes that he might be heading to the city where Kana lived. When she finally disembarks she spots Tamura, who runs away and vanishes into the park.

At Tamura's apartment, Detective Hirama and his men find the note Kuramori left and head out to Hikari Park as well.

Kuramori is playing with Tamura's child when she finally confronts him. Migi tells Shinichi to scope out the place while they wait for Tamura. Satomi has arrived at the entrance of the park alone.
